About Ashia Sims

My Story

Ashia Sims is a Social Media Strategist by trade, storyteller and technology enthusiast by design. Her path to the field of digital strategy started when she landed at Florida A&M University to pursue her interest in the creative side of business. She found herself in the world of journalism and public relations. Upon graduation, she was able to transfer her public relations, project management and event planning skills over to the world of television and film production where she worked for over 10 years. She has worked on television projects for BET, Fox, Peachtree TV, Starz in Black and NBC as well as several feature film projects.

While following her passion of video production and content creation, Ashia continued to explore her love of writing and technology. In 2004, she began providing digital marketing services. Using MySpace and email marketing, she created digital campaigns to promote her clients and their upcoming projects. In 2008, she launched a blog and began to dive more deeply into the world of internet marketing, which included social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook. Her experiences in the early world of social media provided a great bridge into the world of social media and digital strategy where she’s worked in different roles since 2009.

In 2012, her career path expanded as she began to provide education services for organizations. Right now, you can find her teaching business communications at the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University or facilitating a social media or communications workshop for different organizations.

Ashia represents one of the early generations of kids to grow up sitting in front of a computer. She resides in Atlanta, GA, loves attending festivals like Comic Con and Dragon Con, enjoys tech talk and making time to read and write horror and science fiction stories.
